“Eco” Fabrics (Biodegradable, Compostable and Plastic Free)

Pluswipes launch a full range of eco-friendly wet-wipe products for professional applications.

The EU Single Use Plastic Directive specifically excludes wet-wipes ‘for industrial use’ but this does not mean that the industry should ignore the growing pressure for brands to provide ‘eco’ solutions. Pluswipes has been at the heart of developing professional wet-wipe products that are biodegradable, compostable and contain no plastic for many years. Our ‘eco’ portfolio includes  products for use in healthcare, food processing, medical, farming, IT, dentistry,  automotive and household – all of which can utilise 100% naturally derived fibres and complete with TUV Certification.

Zero Waste Week Timeline

Pluswipes took on an enormous challenge all in the worthy name of saving the environment! As a team, we decided to halt the disposing of rubbish as a way of reducing waste in landfills. It was a challenging and fulfilling week. According to our impact survey, #ZeroWasteWeek prompted most employees to make lifestyle changes at home towards a greener lifestyle. Have a look at our #ZeroWasteWeek timeline to find out more about what we got up to:

Monday 27th

We started the week off with a sweet tooth as we organised a Macmillan bake off dedicated to raising funds for the Macmillan Cancer Foundation. A delicious cake was served along with scrumptious homemade cookies which encouraged generous donations.

Tuesday 28th

On #GivingTuesday, the team here at Pluswipes collected clothes to donate to the homeless in our community. And what a generous turnout it was!

We then introduced our Pluswipes customized #ZeroWasteWeek bottles to the company. Our water bottle initiative, is aimed at eliminating the need to buy plastic water bottles. Instead, we reused the customized Pluswipes bottles thus helping to reduce the amount of plastic bottles dumped in landfills.

On Thursday, we decided to have a cook out and come together as a team to reflect – and what better way is there to bring people together than food?

After a challenging and competitive week, the ‘greenest’ employees were awarded with various environmental presents, such as Tupperware. Martin Bradshaw was the winner of the Green Award, and a voucher to Pizza Express, as he stood as the ‘greenest’ employee of the week. Well done Martin!

Overall, this was an incredibly exciting, challenging and educational week for us all. We can’t wait till the next challenge!

#ZeroWasteWeek

Zero Waste Week

Pluswipes is taking on a #ZeroWasteWeek challenge, starting on the 27th of November. This is to help save the environment by reducing waste in landfills. We have introduced several initiatives to help us achieve this goal, such as the following:

Water Bottle Initiative

‘Why are water bottles bad for the environment?’ you may ask. Did you know that approximately 17 million barrels of oil are used annually to produce water and soda bottles? And this is only in the USA! The energy that is used to pump, process, transport and refrigerate the water in the USA annually is equivalent to 50 million barrels of oil. This also has an impact on the environment. Although they are recyclable,  80% of plastic bottles end up in landfills. This is where we come in! Pluswipes has designed reusable water bottles to help eliminate the need to purchase water bottles:

Compost Bins

We have also introduced composting! The use of compost bins will lower Pluswipes’ carbon footprint as it reduces methane levels from landfills.

Paper Recycling

Although we have always been dedicated to recycling paper, we have decided to increase the number of paper recycling bins in order to make it easier for us to make better environmental choices.

Although our innovative wet-wipes have been trusted by leading brands in the healthcare industry for over a decade, Pluswipes is always looking for an opportunity to learn and improve. And what better place is there to learn than a building full of medical experts?
